Ok I have to ask, why the change from WordPress? I have used WordPress for 8 years so I’m curious what I’m missing out on LOL!!! Keep on looking for that special spot,, we keep our eyes open as well but no hurry.
Hey Dave. We switched basically because I’m a cheap &#%$@* & got tired of paying WP $300 for their hosting. We still use WP for the blog, just now Bluehost does the shared hosting. Although, like you we are not in a hurry, we are getting somewhat serious about landing somewhere, maybe going half-time. I know I could’ve downgraded our WP from the business plan for less $, but I just got a hair up my donkey about having to pay the premium for better themes, fonts, etc. It was a serious pain in the butt changing over, especially for a cyber-tech illiterate such as myself, lots of phone calls, waiting on hold for hours, etc. I wouldn’t say you’re missing out on anything, I don’t know that Bluehost will be any improvement over WP, WP was OK for us for all those years. I guess my big decision maker was when I wanted to create a printable copy of our 8 year blog. Remember, cyber-tech illiterate. I loaded up the plug-in “Print My Blog” & after hours of trying to figure it out, I thought I was successful, but the result was a wildly inconsistent format; large spaces, sometimes empty pages, between not just posts but sentences, pix not even close to their original layouts, and a whole lot more. It put me in computer overload mode & voila, we are now Bluehost-ed. I’ll write about our transition more in my next post, with my final solution on obtaining a printable version of the whole blog from the beginning. You kids take care & continued Happy Trails.
